The statutory minimum entitlement

Under Labour Law No. 4857 art. 53, annual paid leave is 14 working days after one year of service, 20 days after five years and 26 days after fifteen. Employees under 18 or over 50 are entitled to no fewer than 20 days regardless of service.

Entitlement begins only after one full year of service. Contracts can grant more; they cannot grant less.

Frequently asked questions

No. Annual leave is counted in working days, and national and public holidays falling within a leave period are not deducted from the entitlement.
What happens to unused leave when someone leaves?
Accrued but unused annual leave is paid out on termination, calculated on the salary in force at that date.
