What counts as overtime in Turkey
Weekly working time is 45 hours. Hours beyond that are overtime and are paid at 1.5× the hourly rate. Work on the weekly rest day is also paid at 1.5×.
Work on a public holiday is different: the employee receives one extra day's pay for each day worked, on top of the normal entitlement.
How the hourly rate is derived
Turkish payroll practice divides the monthly salary by 225 to obtain the hourly rate — 30 days multiplied by 7.5 hours. Overtime may not exceed 270 hours per year.
